No appointments at the Federal Police? Find out what can be done.

Transparency: BFA Direito Migratório is a private law firm. We are not a government body, have no affiliation with the Federal Police and do not guarantee the opening of slots in the system. Our work consists of legally assessing the case, guiding evidence gathering and, where applicable, proposing administrative or judicial measures. For official information, please also consult the Federal Police immigration page on gov.br.

The situation

The system shows no slots. And life doesn't wait.

The lack of an appointment can affect documents, employment, banking, school, travel, driving licence renewal and your overall sense of security in Brazil.

1

You try to schedule but find no availability

The system shows no slots or prevents you from choosing dates that match your urgency.

2

Your document may expire or has already expired

This can cause practical difficulties in proving immigration regularity, renewing documents or accessing services.

3

You don't know whether to keep trying or take legal action

Not every case should go straight to court. Sometimes it's necessary to organise evidence better and formalise administrative attempts first.

Is this the right place for you?

Find out if this assessment makes sense for your case

This service may be useful if…

  • You have tried to schedule more than once and the system shows no slots.
  • There is a deadline approaching or a concrete impact: employment, driving licence, banking, school, travel or a contract.
  • You need to issue, renew or update your CRNM/RNE/RNM.
  • You need to formalise a residence authorisation, Mercosur residence, family reunification or another immigration procedure.
  • You want to know whether the right path is administrative, judicial or gathering more evidence.

It may not be the right moment if…

  • You have only tried to schedule once and have not repeated the attempt.
  • You have not yet gathered the basic documents for your immigration procedure.
  • There is no urgency or concrete impact at this time.
  • You are looking for an official website to get a slot directly in the Federal Police system.
  • You expect a guaranteed result, a slot opening or a fixed deadline for resolution.

Strategy before action

A writ of mandamus (mandado de segurança) may be an option. But it is not the only path.

The consultation helps identify which route is safest and most proportionate for your case.

1

Targeted guidance

When the case can still be resolved through document organisation, new scheduling attempts and proper recording of evidence.

2

Administrative action

When it is advisable to formalise emails, requests, representations or structured contact with the responsible unit.

3

Judicial measure

When there is urgency, consistent evidence of unavailability and sufficient legal grounds to assess a writ of mandamus.

★★★★★
"I can't recommend their services enough, especially if you are an English-speaker. I'm from the United States, and needed guidance and help obtaining my Brazilian residency as my pregnant wife is currently here waiting on a Green Card. Clarissa and staff outlined the overall process in a very clear and friendly way right off the bat, then stayed informative and approachable throughout the process, leading us to the most efficient way forward. We had a million questions, and found the team both responsive and knowledgeable. Plus, they went above and beyond whenever possible, even taking ownership of some administrative tasks so we could focus on our pregnancy, jobs, and lives. If you're looking for trustworthy, timely, and knowledgeable experts in regards to Brazil's migration policies, I'd look no further."
